Giving Tuesday 2022

The Kalaeloa Heritage and Legacy Foundation is participating in Give Big Hawaiʻi! Though the main focus is on Giving Tuesday, November 29, our donation link will be open and active from November 21 - December 31.

Here are some reasons to consider donating to us:

We are 100% volunteer-run.
From our docents to our park maintenance manager, everyone you see or interact with at the Kalaeloa Heritage Park is a volunteer who answered the call to mālama this special place.

We are stewarded by the community.
All of the members on the KHLF Board of Directors live and/or are rooted in the ʻEwa moku. Our sense of kuleanato this ʻāina guides us in fulfilling our mission to protect and preserve the Native Hawaiian cultural sites at Kalaeloa.

The Kalaeloa Heritage Park is home to native plant species, some of which can no longer be found in the wild.
We care for a number of native plants including the ʻEwa ʻāhinahina, the ʻEwa naio, ʻakoko, and koʻoloa ʻula. After laying dormant for many years, these plants were able to flourish again after the clearing of invasive species (kiawe, haole koa, etc.).

The park is a living classroom for students of all ages.
The Kalaeloa Heritage Park has served as a living outdoor classroom for many students ranging in age from elementary school to the university level. Using the park, kumu have been able to teach their haumāna math, science, archaeology, and even social studies!
